Angat Buhay Foundation on Saturday described Martial Law as one of the darkest periods in Philippine history, recalling it as a time of fear, abuse, and silenced freedoms.
In a statement, the foundation emphasized that while the nation overcame tyranny through people’s collective strength, Filipinos today face a different struggle—corruption.
According to Angat Buhay, corruption robs children of classrooms, families of hospitals, and citizens of dignity. The group stressed that, just as unity helped topple dictatorship, the same collective courage, hope, and bayanihan will be vital in defeating corruption.
“This day is a reminder that true power does not lie in the hands of a dictator, nor in the wealth of the few, but in the collective strength of the people,” the foundation said.
Angat Buhay vowed that it would not forget the lessons of Martial Law and would continue working toward a future rooted in honesty, justice, and unity.
