BCDA BACKS KOREAN NATIONALS’ LEGAL ACTION IN CAMP JOHN HAY LEASE DISPUTE

The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has expressed support for the decision of several Korean nationals to pursue legal action against Camp John Hay Development Corporation (CJHDevCo), led by the Sobrepeña group, over lease agreements within Camp John Hay in Baguio City.

In a statement, BCDA emphasized that it takes the concerns of the affected members of the Korean community seriously and remains committed to ensuring a lawful, transparent, and compassionate transition process for all parties involved.

The agency continues to work closely with relevant government offices to assist stakeholders, including foreign retirees. Support measures include translation services and personalized consultations to help clarify legal options and facilitate mutually acceptable, law-compliant lease arrangements.

BCDA also underscored its respect for the decision of individuals to seek redress through the courts, welcoming the legal review of the dispute by appropriate judicial authorities.

The agency reaffirmed its position that valid lease agreements will be honored as long as they comply with Philippine laws and the Supreme Court’s final and executory ruling on the matter.
