Bataan farmers gain better market access with new ₱90-M Farm-to-Market Road

Farmers and residents in Sitio Nazareno and Barangay Culis now enjoy improved access to markets with the completion of a ₱90.3-million farm-to-market road under the Department of Agriculture–Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP).

The 5.72-kilometer road, implemented through DA-PRDP’s I-BUILD component, directly links agricultural communities to town centers, helping reduce travel time, cut post-harvest losses, and increase income potential for farmers. The road benefits producers of mangoes, coconuts, bananas, vegetables, and other high-value crops.

“This project supports faster, easier, and stronger production—from planting to marketing—while also helping prevent spoilage,” President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. emphasized in his 2024 State of the Nation Address, where he underscored the importance of improving farm productivity and agricultural profitability.

Bataan Governor Jose Enrique Garcia III welcomed the project’s impact on the province’s agricultural economy, saying, “This road will lead to higher farmer incomes, greater livelihood opportunities, and more development initiatives in Bataan.”

Barangay Culis Captain Manolito Paule also expressed his appreciation, highlighting how the road has ensured that local produce reaches markets fresh and intact. “Before, products were often damaged in transit. Now, fruits and crops arrive fresh at their destination,” Paule said.

The DA-PRDP continues to implement infrastructure projects that boost rural economies and align with the Marcos administration’s vision of food security and better livelihoods for Filipino farmers.
