Around 3,000 supporters of Mayor-elect Jing V. Capil gathered on Monday morning for a unity walk and prayer rally, demonstrating their continued support amid ongoing legal proceedings.
Vice Mayor-elect Jen Capil and the town’s newly elected councilors led the unity walk. The show of solidarity came days after the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Second Division issued a ruling disqualifying Capil, who won the mayoralty race with 39,939 votes.
Capil has filed a motion for reconsideration before the Comelec, seeking to overturn the disqualification decision.
Despite the legal setback, Capil’s camp remains hopeful and focused on a peaceful transition, emphasizing unity and faith as the town awaits the final decision.
