Cong. Pogi backs PBBM’s Key SONA Programs

Pampanga First District Representative Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. expressed full support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s 2025 State of the Nation Address (SONA), highlighting key initiatives on affordable rice, renewable energy, and expanded health care coverage.

Lazatin praised the President’s push for ₱20 rice through the KADIWA Program, calling it a vital step toward food security for the underprivileged. He also welcomed the government’s transition to solar energy, emphasizing its potential to attract more foreign investments, particularly in areas like the Clark Special Economic Zone.

“When electricity is cheaper, we become more competitive with our neighbors like Malaysia and Indonesia,” Lazatin said.

He likewise lauded the inclusion of heart procedures and dialysis treatments in PhilHealth coverage, noting the significant relief this would bring to families burdened by high medical costs.

Lazatin’s own initiatives as former Angeles City Mayor align closely with these priorities. His administration implemented the award-winning “Walang Plastikan, Plastik Palit Bigas” rice-for-recyclables program, pioneered solar energy use in city offices and schools, and bolstered public health through expanded facilities and services — including the P480-million Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center upgrade, new dialysis machines, and free vaccines for seniors.
