Department of Health (DOH) Central Luzon Center for Health Development is promoting its ThyroMobile program and Hello Doc telemedicine services to boost awareness and improve early detection of thyroid-related illnesses across the region.
Dr. Jefferson Alamani, an ENT head and neck specialist at Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center (GHMC), highlighted the importance of regular self-checks for thyroid health. He urged the public to inspect their necks monthly using a mirror and palpation to spot any unusual lumps or swelling.
“Early detection is key. Everyone should be proactive in monitoring their thyroid health and take advantage of available services,” Alamani emphasized.
The ThyroMobile initiative, recently launched by DOH Central Luzon, brings mobile thyroid screenings to underserved and iodine-deficient communities. The goal is to make early diagnosis and medical interventions more accessible.
Alamani also promoted “Hello Doc,” a free telemedicine platform that allows residents to consult doctors remotely. This service reduces the need for in-person visits and facilitates faster medical advice and management of potential thyroid disorders.
To complement telemedicine, Bataan GHMC continues to offer thyroid function tests, ultrasounds, biopsies, and specialist consultations.
