The Department of Health Central Luzon Center for Health Development (DOH CLCHD) is urging the public to adopt healthier lifestyles to prevent and manage hypertension, one of the country’s most common health issues.
Senior Health Program Officer Agnes Alipio from the Non-Communicable Diseases Cluster said most cases of high blood pressure can be avoided with regular exercise, a healthy BMI, and the DASH diet, which promotes more vegetables, fruits, and lean protein while limiting salt and saturated fats.
She also emphasized the importance of routine blood pressure checks, especially for those at higher risk such as smokers and individuals who are overweight. Making these changes, Alipio said, doesn’t just lower the risk of hypertension—it also helps prevent life-threatening complications like stroke and heart disease.
The DOH encourages everyone to take charge of their health today for a better, longer life.
