DOTr fast-tracks relocation for NSCR-affected families

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is firming up efforts to complete relocation sites for families affected by the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) project.

DOTr Assistant Secretary IC Calaguas met with Social Housing Finance Corporation Vice President Bob Flores and representatives from the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) to discuss the status and acceleration of relocation site construction.

ASec Calaguas underscored the urgency of completing all relocation sites in Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, San Fernando and Angeles City in Pampanga, and Calumpit, Bulacan to ensure the smooth implementation of the railway project.

Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez, following President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive, has ordered the expedited construction of the NSCR to deliver improved connectivity and public transport efficiency.

A total of 16,000 informal settler families are expected to be relocated under the project.
