DOTr orders Toll Suspension at NLEX Marilao after Fatal Overheight Truck Crash

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has ordered the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corporation to immediately suspend toll collection at the northbound segment of the Marilao Interchange until all four lanes are cleared and safe for motorists, following another collision involving an overheight container truck that struck the bridge on June 19, 2025.

The incident resulted in the death of one person and injuries to several others, including a two-year-old child, after the bridge girder collapsed onto a passing vehicle due to the impact.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed the DOTr and the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) to ensure that motorists and commuters affected by the incident are fairly compensated for lost time, fatigue, and inconvenience caused by the heavy traffic.

The DOTr has also mandated NLEX Corp. to provide full assistance to the victims’ families and those injured. The agency questioned the toll operator’s oversight, especially after a similar incident occurred at the same location less than three months ago.

The concessionaire has been asked to submit a detailed explanation on the apparent failure in enforcement of safety regulations and the recurring incidents involving overheight vehicles.

The DOTr apologized to the public for the disruption and assured that expedited repairs are underway to restore normal traffic flow and ensure commuter safety.
