The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has partnered with Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) to enhance the implementation of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) across Central Luzon.
The collaboration was formalized through a Regional Memorandum of Agreement, cementing both institutions’ shared goal of reducing poverty and uplifting vulnerable communities through targeted livelihood initiatives.
DSWD Regional Director Venus Rebuldela said the agreement establishes a framework for joint efforts in capacity-building, employment facilitation, and microenterprise development. DSWD will provide participant data, technical assistance, and program oversight, while TAU will extend training, mentorship, research support, and access to its facilities to help SLP beneficiaries build viable sources of income.
The agreement was signed by DSWD Assistant Regional Director for Operations Armont Pecina, on behalf of Rebuldela; and TAU Vice President for Research, Extension and Training Edmar Franquera, together with TAU Director for Extension and Training Agnes Perey, representing TAU President Silverio Ramon Salunson.
This initiative reflects a strong whole-of-government approach, linking national agencies and academic institutions to deliver inclusive and sustainable development in the region.
