The Department of Trade and Industry Region III (DTI-3) wrapped up the 2024 Consumer Welfare Month with a culminating event on October 22 at Waltermart Mall in San Fernando. This year’s celebration, themed “Be Smart, Assert Your Consumer Rights!” featured activities such as consumer welfare seminars, fun runs, zumba, quiz bees, E-poster making, spoken poetry, and the first Ms. Consumer Advocate 2024 pageant.
DTI-3 OIC Regional Director Edna D. Dizon encouraged attendees to be informed and active in supporting consumer rights. She emphasized responsible consumption and accountability from businesses to promote community and environmental sustainability.
Highlights included the Spoken Poetry contest for high school students, with Phoebe M. Reyes of San Guillermo National High School winning first place. Other winners were Kayezha Dennise Marollano of Meycauayan National High School (second) and Marco Ariz De Jesus of San Carlos San Luis National High School (third).
The search for Ms. Consumer Advocate featured contestants over 60 from local Consumer Organizations, showcasing talent and sustainable fashion made from recycled materials. Lisa E. Tan from Tarlac Consumer Council won the title, followed by Ms. Divina Celis Aguilar of Castillejos and Ms. Aurelia Tagalag of Cabanatuan.
DTI-3 expressed gratitude to all participants and supporters, hoping the events empowered consumers across Central Luzon.
