DTI-3 kicks off Consumer Welfare Month

The Department of Trade and Industry Region 3 (DTI-3) officially kicked off this year’s Consumer Welfare Month celebration with a ceremony recognizing exemplary establishments and highlighting the importance of consumer protection and empowerment.

Observed every October under Presidential Proclamation No. 1098, Consumer Welfare Month underscores the shared responsibility of government, businesses, and consumers in ensuring fairness, transparency, and safety in the marketplace.

With the theme “Bida ang Konsyumer sa Bagong Pilipinas,” the 2025 celebration puts consumers at the heart of national progress and economic integrity.

During the kickoff event, DTI-3 conferred the Central Luzon Gold Bagwis Awards to outstanding establishments that demonstrated excellence in fair trade, ethical business practices, and quality customer service.

This year’s awardees include:

  • Aurora: Robinsons Easymart, Baler
  • Bataan: Ton Maria Convenience Store (7-Eleven), Orion
  • Bulacan: Pandayan Bookshop, Hagonoy
  • Nueva Ecija: Waltermart Supermarket, San Jose City
  • Pampanga: Toyota Angeles City
  • Tarlac: Magic Star Supermarket, Paniqui
  • Zambales: CSI Warehouse Club, Iba

The Bagwis Seal of Excellence symbolizes trust and integrity among Filipino consumers, assuring them of fair pricing, honest transactions, and reliable customer service.

“Your achievement inspires other establishments to follow your example, creating a marketplace that is fair, transparent, and truly responsive to the needs of our people,” said DTI-3 Regional Director Edna D. Dizon.

The event also featured the Consumer Advocates Knowledge Battle, a quiz competition among provincial representatives, where Bulacan Province emerged as champion.

Throughout October, DTI-3 will hold a series of activities promoting consumer rights and awareness — including fun runs, seminars, product monitoring drives, and creative competitions — culminating in the Search for the Central Luzon Consumer Advocate on October 28 at Waltermart Mall, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

As the celebration continues, DTI-3 calls on both consumers and businesses to champion ethical practices, uphold fair trade, and make informed choices in building a just and empowered marketplace.
