Globe honored for Digital Inclusion Efforts at Global Broadband Awards

Globe Telecom earned international acclaim after winning the Broadband Digital Inclusion Excellence Award at the World Broadband Association (WBBA) Broadband Excellence Awards 2025 for its landmark initiative, “No Filipino Left Offline: Connecting the Underserved.”

The recognition highlights Globe At Home’s commitment to bridging the digital divide by providing accessible, reliable connectivity to Filipinos—especially those in underserved and far-flung communities.

“We’re deeply honored by this global recognition. It’s a powerful affirmation of our mission to leave no Filipino offline,” said Globe President and CEO Carl Cruz. “Digital inclusion has become a right, and Globe is building a future where every Filipino, from bustling cities to remote barangays, can thrive through sustainable, high-speed connectivity.”

At the core of the initiative is GFiber Prepaid, a contract-free, pay-as-you-go broadband service that offers an easy and affordable way for first-time internet users to get connected. With a fully digital onboarding process via the GlobeOne app, subscribers can enjoy fast internet access starting at just ₱199 for seven days at speeds of up to 50 Mbps.

Globe’s digital inclusion strategy also empowers sari-sari stores as community access points, enabling local entrepreneurs to serve as gateways for digital connectivity. According to Packworks, sari-sari store transactions grew by 32% in 2024, reflecting the broader social and economic benefits of Globe’s efforts.

Beyond infrastructure, Globe provides free emergency mobile data during typhoons, ensuring families remain connected while power and network restoration are underway—an example of how the company’s services adapt to the challenges of Filipino life.

“This initiative is not just about connecting fiber; it’s about connecting lives to opportunity, education, and the global digital economy,” said Abigail Cardino, Head of Brand Management, Broadband Business at Globe.

The WBBA award, received by Danny Theseira, Senior Advisor at Globe, in Paris, underscores the company’s vision of a digitally inclusive Philippines—one where no Filipino is left behind in the fast-evolving digital world.
