Grab, MOVE IT launch full-scale typhoon relief efforts across Luzon

In response to widespread flooding caused by the intensified southwest monsoon, Grab Philippines and MOVE IT have rolled out comprehensive relief and recovery efforts for affected communities, including their network of drivers, riders, and partner businesses.

Thousands of Filipinos across Luzon have been displaced by days of heavy rainfall. In coordination with local and national government units, Grab is activating targeted aid programs and donation drives to support those most affected.

“Our hearts go out to the communities hardest hit by this week’s inclement weather,” said Ronald Roda, Grab Philippines Managing Director. “We are fully mobilized to support our partners and the broader public in this time of need.”

Key Relief Efforts for Partners
Through the reactivation of its GrabCare and MOVE IT Malasakit programs, the platform is extending the following assistance:

  • Calamity Assistance: One-time financial grants for typhoon-damaged vehicles.
  • Medical Support: Coverage of emergency room and hospitalization expenses at accredited hospitals, in partnership with Cocolife.
  • Loan Repayment Holiday: Temporary suspension of microloan payments for eligible partners in hard-hit areas such as Metro Manila, Pampanga, and Baguio.

Grab’s Emergency Response Unit (ERU) also remains on heightened alert to support real-time emergency situations involving drivers or passengers.

Community Support and Donation Drives
In preparation for long-term recovery, Grab is working with LGUs to coordinate:

  • Relief distribution and clean-up operations
  • Continued monitoring of urgent needs on the ground

Meanwhile, the company has reactivated its GrabBayanihan program, allowing users to redeem GrabRewards points as donation vouchers to support McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen and World Vision. Vouchers valued at ₱20, ₱50, and ₱100 are available for as low as 60, 150, and 300 points, respectively.

Long-Term Commitment to Resilience
Grab’s efforts form part of its wider commitment to national resilience, inclusive recovery, and support for underserved communities.

“We see ourselves not just as a technology provider, but as a partner to the nation – one that responds, supports, and stands alongside Filipinos in times of great need,” Roda emphasized.
