HANN Foundation has marked a milestone in its mission to support accessible education with the inauguration of its first Alternative Learning System (ALS) Community Learning and Resource Center (CLRC) in Sitio Malasa, Barangay Anupul, Bamban, Tarlac.
Built in just three weeks using innovative container prefab technology, the newly opened center comprises four units in a modern, two-story facility designed to enhance learning for out-of-school children, youth, and adults in the Ayta community. The ground floor serves as a multipurpose classroom, fully equipped with learning tools like a 65-inch TV, computers, tables, and chairs. On the second floor, there is an office and dormitory for ALS teachers, providing computers, printers, and accommodations for educators from Malasa Integrated School. The entire project, valued at ₱2 million, underscores HANN Foundation’s commitment to supporting the educational needs of underserved communities.
The turnover ceremony, held at Malasa Integrated School, was attended by HANN Foundation Executive Director Ms. Ana Christi G. Galura and DepEd Tarlac Schools Division Superintendent Mr. Jessie Ferrer, CESO V, and coincided with Indigenous Peoples Month celebrations. Ms. Galura shared, “HANN Foundation believes in the ALS Program of DepEd and recognizes the significance of providing educational services to the Ayta community.” Mr. Ferrer added, “This is a holistic community approach that involves the private sector, churches, DepEd, and other stakeholders working together to support each learner.”
The ceremony included a traditional ribbon-cutting and blessing led by Fr. Art Eduarte, joined by district superintendents from East and West Bamban, DepEd Tarlac representatives, and the ALS Team of Tarlac.
This ALS CLRC is a key step in HANN Foundation’s efforts to enhance functional literacy, equip learners with essential skills, and contribute to community development in Central Luzon.
