With less than three weeks left before the mid-term elections, it seems that reelectionist Senator Imee Marcos is facing a serious identity crisis in her campaign… what is her goal? What is her mindset? What will she gain from the unorthodox thing she is doing?

How does the presidential sister present herself to the voting populace? How can Imee convince voters, using her own “distinctiveness”, to ensure another 6-year term? Take for instance “Mr. Malasakit” and you can easily brand it to Bong Go. Benhur Abalos is “Mr. Crime Buster”, Ben Tulfo is “Mr. Ben Banat”. Can “Imeesolusyon” enough to propel her to secure a seat?

Obviously, Imee has an identity problem at this stage and it is severe at that! She was endorsed by her president-brother Bong-Bong Marcos as part of the administration’s senatorial ticket… but she withdrew and excluded herself saying she would like to be an independent candidate.

When Digong was arrested by the ICC and brought to the Hague, she initiated a senate investigation to which high ranking Bong-Bong Marcos administration officials were invited for questioning and grilling as if Imee can bring back the Punisher. It was too obvious that she would just like to convince the DDS diehards that she is on their side and is very much concerned about the plight of Duterte — convincing the DDS to believe in her maneuvering means convincing them to vote for her.

Just a few days ago, she sought the endorsement of VP Sara resulting to that ITIM (Inday Trust Imee Marcos) campaign advertisement.

From Imeesolusyon to ITIM? From a Marcos sibling to a Duterte die hard this late in the campaign? A mix of branding I may say. From red to black.

But who are the Dutertes for Imee? Digong called her brother “bangag and addict” and for several times called for his ouster as president. Sara, the “close friend” of Imee said that an assassin is ready to kill Bong-Bong, Liza and Martin Romualdez… she also claimed that she already told Imee that she will exhume their father’s body from the Libingan ng mga Bayani and throw his remains over the West Philippine Sea. Representative Pulong said he will kick and punch the president while Davao mayor Baste cursed and called the president as a weak leader. How about the top DDS personalities? Harry Roque was quoted as saying that Imee cannot be trusted, Atty. Sal Penelo told Imee directly, “Lokohin mo ang Lelang mo and namamangka sa dalawang ilog” with the mistress of Digong addressing the efforts of Imee as “Nek-Nek mo.”

With what this Imee did, she obviously lost the support of the Marcos loyalist and the solid north, she will not be voted solidly by the DDS and of course, she will not get the nod of the voters from the Dilawan and the Pinkyawan.

Since she is already a perceived ally, DDS are calling for her to file an impeachment raps against her brother Bong-Bong, some call for her to reveal the truth that her brother is a drug dependent and others are calling for her to lead an ouster plot against BBM.

Can Imee, just because of her ambition to be reelected and securing higher office in 2028, sacrifice her brother? How diabolic this Imee is kung nagkataon. Maybe Imee knows something that most Filipinos do not?
