In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, award-winning nonprofit I am MAD (Making A Difference) Volunteers Inc. took a pause from serving others to care for their own — holding a Wellness Day that focused on mental, spiritual, and financial well-being for volunteers.
Held at Tiong Bahru Makati, the event served as a day of rest, reflection, and renewal, reminding participants that “you cannot give from an empty cup.” Co-founders Christian Marx Rivero and Maco Ravanzo emphasized that caring for oneself is an essential part of serving others, reflecting the group’s belief in kapwa — shared identity and healing through community.

Among the initiatives launched were MAD BFF (Making A Difference Bible Fellowship Fortnighters), a faith-based gathering that nurtures volunteers’ spiritual lives; a financial wellness program with Metrobank, encouraging sustainable giving; and the Padayon Journal, a writing project promoting reflection and emotional resilience.
For 15 years, I am MAD has empowered volunteers nationwide through values formation, education, and community-building for children in underserved areas. This year’s celebration reinforces a powerful truth: when volunteers take time to rest and reconnect, they renew the spirit of service that keeps the mission alive.
