With the continuous decline of the malnutrition rate in Angeles City, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. targets to totally end it this 2024.
During his 5th State of the City Address (SOCA) last June 24, the Mayor shared that the malnourishment rate has decreased by 63%. He said that from 1,500 families classified as malnourished in 2021, the number dropped to 617 in 2022 and only 563 in 2023.
This became possible with Mayor Lazatin’s persistent house-to-house administration of Vitamin A and deworming to children ages 5 and below; the delivery of Pusong Mamon nutrition bun; and the combined efforts of the City Nutrition Office and the Environmental Management System for Walang Plastikan: Plastik Palit Bigas project.
To recall, the city government under the leadership of Mayor Lazatin, has been one of the National Finalists for the Walang Gutom Awards, through the evident and continuous decline of the malnourishment rate, via the rice-to-exchange project.
