Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. expressed optimism over the appointment of Vince Dizon as Secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), believing it will lead to the continued development of vital transport infrastructure in the country.
Among the key projects under Dizon’s leadership is the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) System, which will connect Clark International Airport and the City of San Fernando to Manila, extending all the way to Calamba City, Laguna. The NSCR will feature 35 stations, including Clark and the historic station in San Fernando, as well as 464 train cars and three depots.

Lazatin is confident that Dizon’s previous experience as the head of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) will help expedite the development of the NSCR, boosting passenger traffic at Clark International Airport.
In 2024, the Clark airport served 2.4 million passengers, facilitated by 19,221 local and international flights.
“With Secretary Dizon leading the DOTr, we can expect the continued growth of transport infrastructure that will enhance the Philippines’ attractiveness to both local and foreign investors,” said Mayor Lazatin.
He also emphasized that these transport developments are crucial to the country’s growth, as they improve accessibility and encourage more investments through a seamless transport system.
Dizon previously served as President and CEO of the BCDA under former President Rodrigo Duterte.
