Megaworld strengthens homegrown hotel portfolio with Accor

Megaworld, the Philippines’ largest developer and operator of homegrown hotel brands, is teaming up with global hospitality leader Accor to elevate its local hotel portfolio through its hospitality arm, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts.

Accor, known for world-class brands such as Sofitel, Fairmont, Raffles, Swissôtel, Pullman, Mövenpick, and Mercure, will bring its global expertise to the management and operations of select Megaworld hotel properties. The partnership also includes the integration of Accor’s renowned guest service standards and reservation systems.

As part of this collaboration, guests staying in selected properties will gain access to ALL – Accor Live Limitless, the group’s global loyalty program, allowing them to earn points and exclusive benefits when booking.

The partnership kicks off with the transition of Belmont Hotel Mactan into Mercure Mactan Cebu—the first Megaworld property to carry an Accor brand. The hotel is located within the 30-hectare The Mactan Newtown township in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

“We are honored to collaborate with a top-tier hospitality group like Accor. With Mercure Mactan Cebu, we aim to redefine the tourism experience in Cebu by blending our local expertise with Accor’s global hospitality standards,” said Cleofe Albiso, Managing Director of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts. “This move will help boost local tourism, create economic opportunities, and deliver long-term value to our stakeholders.”

Andrew Langdon, Accor’s Chief Development Officer for Asia, added: “The Philippines is a strategic market for Accor, and this partnership with Megaworld supports our goal to meet the growing demand for hotels serving both leisure and business travelers. Mactan is rapidly becoming a top destination, and we’re proud to bring Mercure’s locally inspired hospitality to Cebu.”

Megaworld Hotels & Resorts currently operates 13 hotels with around 7,000 rooms in key locations such as Metro Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Tagaytay, and Iloilo. Notable properties include Richmonde Hotels (Ortigas, Eastwood, Iloilo), Belmont Hotels (Manila, Boracay, Mactan), Savoy Hotels (Manila, Boracay, Mactan), Hotel Lucky Chinatown, Twin Lakes Hotel, Kingsford Hotel Manila, and Grand Westside Hotel.

In the next three years, Megaworld plans to open seven more hotels in Palawan, Pampanga, Bacolod, and Iloilo, raising its total number of operating hotels to 20 and room count to 9,000. These upcoming properties include:

  • Chancellor Hotel Boracay
  • Belmont Hotel Iloilo
  • Kingsford Hotel Bacolod
  • Savoy Hotel Palawan
  • Paraguay Sands Palawan
  • ArcoVia Hotel
  • Savoy Capital Town Pampanga

In 2024, the group made history with the opening of the 1,530-room Grand Westside Hotel in Parañaque—the largest hotel in the Philippines in terms of room count.

This partnership with Accor marks a new chapter in Megaworld’s commitment to growing its Filipino hotel brands while embracing world-class hospitality standards.
