The NLEX Road Warriors (NRW) held their inaugural Coaches Camp on Saturday, November 23, 2024, bringing together over 35 barangay and school coaches from Bulacan for a day of learning and inspiration.
The camp, an initiative of NLEX Corporation, aims to empower communities through sports by equipping coaches with skills to enhance their leadership both on and off the court.
“NLEX strives to create a positive impact in the communities we serve,” said Donna Faylona-Marcelo, NLEX Vice President for Communication and Stakeholder Management. “This program is about more than just basketball—it’s about inspiring coaches to be great leaders who can instill discipline, teamwork, and perseverance in their players and their communities.”
NRW players Sean Anthony and Asi Taulava joined Coaches Camp Head Larry Fonacier in leading the sessions. Fonacier emphasized the importance of mentorship in basketball and beyond.
“Basketball has given us so much, and it’s a privilege to share knowledge and resources with aspiring coaches,” said Fonacier. “We hope this camp helps them better understand the game and build stronger connections with their players.”
The day’s activities included hands-on training, discussions on coaching strategies, and motivational talks. Faylona-Marcelo added that the lessons imparted in the camp go beyond basketball, offering practical insights applicable to everyday life.
The NLEX Road Warriors remain committed to grassroots basketball and community development, with plans to expand the Coaches Camp to other provinces in the north.
