The Northern Luzon Command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (NOLCOM, AFP), in partnership with the Provincial Government of Pampanga and other key agencies, marked the 9th anniversary of the West Philippine Sea (WPS) Victory Day through an arts and advocacy event held July 12, 2025 at SM City Clark.
Titled “Sining Para Karagatan: WPS Atin Ito,” the program featured a poster-making contest and public exhibit aimed at celebrating the 2016 arbitral ruling that invalidated China’s sweeping claims over the WPS. The activity also served as a platform to promote national sovereignty, youth awareness, and community solidarity.

Organized by the 1st Civil Relations Group of CRSAFP, the event was supported by the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency Region III, Tactical Operations Wing Northern Luzon of the Philippine Air Force, and the 7th Civil Military Operations Battalion.
Ninety-five young artists from Central Luzon participated in the poster-making contest, each using their creativity to depict themes of unity, patriotism, and maritime sovereignty.
Winning top honors was Christine Joy R. Miranda of Bamban, Tarlac, who received ₱10,000, a medal, and a certificate. Aliah Ayriz S. Jimenez from Good Samaritan Colleges placed second, and Valino V. Lactaotao of Tarlac National High School took third. Special recognitions were also given to Angelo B. Molo (Best Entry), Ana Leonila Lynn V. Gayoso (Juror’s Choice), and 7-year-old Mariah Felissah S. Villanueva (Junior Artist Award).
Complementing the contest were interactive activities such as film screenings, a photo exhibit, and the distribution of informational materials on the WPS and AFP recruitment programs. A symbolic “Post-it Support Wall” encouraged mallgoers to express solidarity with the WPS advocacy.
The event emphasized the role of art in civic education and underscored the continuing resolve of Central Luzon communities to uphold Philippine sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea.
