PHILIPPINE REMITTANCES HIT $3 BILLION IN APRIL 2025, MAINTAIN UPWARD TREND

Personal remittances from Overseas Filipinos (OFs) continued to show steady growth, reaching US$2.97 billion in April 2025, according to the latest data from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). This marks a 4.1% increase compared to the US$2.86 billion posted in April 2024.

For the first four months of 2025, total personal remittances climbed by 3.0%, rising from US$12.01 billion in January-April 2024 to US$12.37 billion for the same period this year. Month-on-month, seasonally adjusted personal remittances also grew by 1.6%.

Cash remittances sent through banks likewise posted positive growth, amounting to US$2.66 billion in April 2025—up 4.0% from US$2.56 billion in April last year. Cumulative cash remittances for January to April 2025 reached US$11.11 billion, reflecting a 3.0% increase from US$10.78 billion in the same period of 2024.

The BSP attributed the growth to higher inflows from major sources such as the United States, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The United States remained the largest contributor to total cash remittances, followed by Singapore and Saudi Arabia.

The consistent rise in remittances continues to serve as a key driver of household spending and economic activity in the Philippines, highlighting the important role of overseas Filipinos in supporting the country’s economy.
