From December 16 to 29, 2024, the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) conducted 226 successful operations against illegal firecrackers as part of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) intensified campaign to curb their manufacture, sale, and use. This initiative aligns with the directive of PNP Chief PGEN Rommel Francisco D. Marbil.
The operations resulted in the confiscation of approximately 20,000 pieces of various illegal firecrackers, including homemade “boga,” with an estimated total value of PHP 403,385.00. The campaign aims to ensure public safety and prevent firecracker-related injuries during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
PRO3 Regional Director PBGEN Redrico A. Maranan emphasized their commitment to protecting public safety, stating:
“Our operations aim to ensure a peaceful and safe celebration of the holidays in our region. We will not hesitate to take action against violators of laws on illegal firecrackers, especially as these pose risks to our citizens’ safety.”
PBGEN Maranan also highlighted the dual purpose of the campaign: law enforcement and public education. He urged the public to cooperate with authorities by reporting any activities related to illegal firecrackers.
“I commend the dedication of our personnel in implementing the directive of PGEN Marbil. Their efforts ensure the safety and peace of every community across the country,” he added.
The Police Regional Office 3 remains steadfast in strengthening regional security and ensuring that every resident experiences a joyous, peaceful, and safe start to the New Year.
