The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), has officially launched the first-ever Konsulta provider clinic in a DepEd regional office, located at the DepEd Regional Office III in Central Luzon.
This pioneering clinic marks a milestone in bringing accessible primary healthcare services directly to the education sector. PhilHealth Region III Acting Vice President Henry Almanon said the facility is set to provide Konsulta program services such as routine check-ups, medical consultations, laboratory and diagnostic tests, and maintenance medicines. These services will benefit not only teachers and staff but also students and their families.

“PhilHealth is committed to delivering benefits and services that are fast, fair, and reliable,” Almanon emphasized. “Through our partnership with DepEd, we aim to promote healthier teachers, students, and communities. We encourage everyone to make full use of the Konsulta program and PhilHealth’s expanded benefits.”
Almanon also revealed that PhilHealth is working to expand Konsulta services across all provinces in Central Luzon by accrediting more providers, assigning beneficiaries, and ensuring convenient access to its benefit packages.
DepEd Assistant Regional Director Jessie Amin highlighted the critical need for a fully operational clinic within the department to support the health and well-being of both personnel and learners. He expressed optimism for sustained financial backing from PhilHealth to ensure the long-term viability of the clinic.
Since 2024, DepEd Region III has integrated the PhilHealth Learners’ Material into its official portal and engaged students and teachers in discussions to raise awareness on PhilHealth’s benefits and programs.
The establishment of the Konsulta provider clinic reflects the shared goal of PhilHealth and DepEd to advance public health within the education community and strengthen institutional support for wellness. (PIA 3 | Maria Asumpta Estefanie C. Reyes)
