Philippine Airlines (PAL) continues to chart new skies with the successful launch of its direct flights between Manila and Da Nang, Vietnam—further cementing the flag carrier’s role in promoting regional connectivity and cultural exchange.
Flight PR 585 departed Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at 11:10 AM, marking the beginning of PAL’s thrice-weekly service to Da Nang. The route is scheduled to increase to four weekly flights by November 2025, offering more options for travelers heading to one of Vietnam’s most vibrant destinations.
A send-off ceremony at NAIA Terminal 1 brought together aviation partners and government officials, including representatives from the Department of Tourism and the Embassy of Vietnam.
“We are proud to welcome Da Nang to our expanding network,” said PAL President Richard Nuttall. “With this new route, PAL now serves three major cities in Vietnam—Da Nang, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City—more than in any other ASEAN country. This reflects the strong bond of friendship between our nations.”
Vietnamese Ambassador to the Philippines Lai Thai Binh emphasized the flight’s symbolic value as both countries prepare to celebrate major diplomatic milestones—the 10th anniversary of their strategic partnership in 2025 and the 50th year of diplomatic relations in 2026.
“This flight is more than a connection between two cities; it’s a bridge between our people, cultures, and shared dreams,” the Ambassador said.
For the Department of Tourism, the new service meets growing demand from Filipino travelers exploring Vietnam’s coastal and cultural destinations, and vice versa. “As Da Nang emerges as a favorite among Filipino tourists, this direct flight makes travel more accessible while also welcoming more Vietnamese visitors to the Philippines,” said DOT Undersecretary Shahlimar Hofer Tamano.
Nestled between historic Hue and the ancient town of Hoi An, Da Nang is a rising tourism hotspot known for its beaches, culinary scene, and proximity to UNESCO World Heritage sites. The city also offers modern attractions and outdoor adventures, making it an ideal destination for both leisure and business travelers.
The new route is operated by PAL’s Airbus A321 aircraft, offering both Business and Economy Class service to accommodate up to 199 passengers in comfort.
Flight Schedule (Effective July 2025):
- PR 585 Manila–Da Nang: Tue, Thu, Sat | Departs 11:10 AM | Arrives 12:45 PM
- PR 586 Da Nang–Manila: Tue, Thu, Sat | Departs 1:35 PM | Arrives 5:10 PM
With this expansion, Philippine Airlines now operates 24 nonstop flights weekly to Vietnam, including routes from Cebu to Ho Chi Minh City.
Travelers may book their flights via www.philippineairlines.com, the PAL mobile app, or any accredited PAL ticketing office or travel agency.
