Sun Life 5150 Triathlon Bohol returns with record-breaking turnout and island energy

The Sun Life 5150 Triathlon Bohol is making waves once again in Panglao, Bohol, as it returns with over 850 athletes, marking its biggest turnout yet. Hosted at the scenic Bellevue Resort, this year’s event reaffirms its status as the largest 5150-distance triathlon in the Philippines.

Set against Bohol’s famous white sands and turquoise waters, the Olympic-distance race features a 1.5km swim, 40km bike ride, and 10km run. The Sunrise Sprint category, ideal for beginners, includes a 750m swim, 20km bike, and 5km run. Competitors may race individually or in relay teams under the 5150 category, while the Sprint division is for solo athletes.

The three-day event kicked off on July 11 with athlete check-in and an expo at The Bellevue Resort. More than just a race, the triathlon is part of the Bohol Sandugo Festival, blending sport, celebration, and community spirit.

“As we celebrate Sun Life Philippines’ 130th anniversary, our commitment to health and wellness shines brighter through events like the 5150 Triathlon,” said Carla Gonzalez-Chong, Sun Life’s Chief Client Experience and Marketing Officer. “This embodies our purpose of helping Filipinos live healthier lives—one stroke, one pedal, and one stride at a time.”

“This race has become a beloved tradition—laid-back yet competitive, scenic yet challenging,” added Princess Galura, President and General Manager of Sunrise Events. “There’s no better way to start the 5150 season than in beautiful Bohol.”

This year also shines a spotlight on local talent through the Bagong Bayani category, which honors elite Filipino endurance athletes, past and present members of the national team. The top male and female finishers in this category will each receive ₱10,000.

Sun Life Philippines leads the event as title sponsor, with support from The Bellevue Resort Bohol, the Province of Bohol, and the municipalities of Dauis and Panglao. Organized by Sunrise Events Philippines, the race also draws support from partners including Amlan, Ion+, 2Go, Philippine Sports Commission, and more.
