AN ARTICLE posted by a good friend of mine on his Facebook page titled โPoisonous Treeโ caught my attentionโฆalthough the article he wrote, posted on December 1, has elicited just four reactions and five negative comments, still I thought that giving my two-cents worth of opinion will matter.
The posted articleโs subject was the quarry operation in the province in which, the writer, accused the Yaps of corruption and deceit.
The writer likewise wrote that the provincial government cannot even answer the corruption allegation hurled against Governor Susan Yap, Congressman Christian Yap and former governor and representative Vic Yap regarding the quarry issue. He even mentioned third district Congressman Noel โKap. Bongโ Rivera in his article implicating him to the supposed quarry scam branding him as a โlapdogโ of Vic Yap.
Well, what can we expect from a guy who was never been a fan of the Yaps since he started messing with Tarlac politics. While he claims to be a part of the 1984 Batasang Pambansa campaign of the late Tatang Aping Yap, the writer never waned in criticizing the Yaps and probably he has a point because he never tasted victory while opposing them.
In 1998, Tatang Aping soundly defeated then Governor TingTing Cojuangco—the writer was then a top official of the Cojuangco administration. In 2007, Victor Yap won via landslide against his boss former Congressman Peping Cojuangco—he was then the media officer and the cock-fighting czar of Peping.
In 2010, Susan Yap won the second congressional district post of Tarlac—he then was one of the โpropagandistโ of Susanโs political opponent. In 2016, when Gov. Susan won the governorship, the writer then was batting hard for her opponent.
And now thisโฆhe is at it again. Incumbent second district Congressman Christian Tell Yap is seeking the gubernatorial post against Paniqui Mayor Max Roxas, Victor Yap is running for second district Congressman against Tarlac City Mayor Cristy Angeles and Gov. Susan is up against Vic Angeles for the Tarlac City mayoralty post and you guessed it right—he is on the other side of the political fence—against the Yaps.
To answer his article, the quarry issue has long been addressed and there are no anomalies regarding its operation. The problem with this writer and his group is that they keep on comparing the quarry operations and collections of Pampanga and Tarlac.
He must investigate who operate illegal quarries in Tarlac city and Paniqui. Is he aware that only the governor can issue quarry permits and is he aware that his benefactors are the ones operating illegal quarries?
Accusing the Yaps of amassing money from quarry operations and portraying Congressman Bong Rivera as a lapdog is bordering on cyber libel.
The writer became one of the fruits of the poisonous tree because of his hatred for the Yaps—but he must not despair as he is not the only fruit of that poisonous tree there are a lot of them especially those who fabricate lies against the Yaps.
