Dr. Walid A. Amil is poised to take the helm as the incoming National President of the Philippine Heart Association (PHA), bringing with him a clear vision anchored on community-centered care, scientific advancement, and organizational sustainability.

Dr. Walid is the first PHA National President from Mindanao.

Under his leadership, the PHA will focus on flagship initiatives designed to bring cardiovascular services closer to communities, particularly in underserved areas, by strengthening partnerships and outreach programs.

Dr. Amil also emphasized the importance of investing in research to further elevate the country’s contribution to global cardiovascular knowledge.

This, he said, will go hand in hand with the continued training and mentorship of cardiology fellows, ensuring that the next generation of heart specialists are well-equipped and globally competitive.

Recognizing the vital role of regional chapters in the success of the organization, Dr. Amil is also committed to the financial empowerment of PHA chapters, enabling them to launch more localized programs and improve healthcare access across the country.
