Police uncovered a large-scale counterfeit footwear operation worth more than ₱5.26 million during Oplan Megashopper at an industrial facility in San Simon, Pampanga on January 16, 2026.
The operation was carried out by joint elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Regional Field Unit 3 (CIDG RFU 3 RSOT), the Pampanga Provincial Field Unit, and the San Simon Municipal Police Station, following the implementation of a search warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court in Macabebe for violations of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines (RA 8293).
The warrant was served at a warehouse inside an industrial park in Barangay San Pablo Libutad, where authorities seized hundreds of pairs of counterfeit Crocs slippers in various colors, assorted business documents, and a molding machine used to manufacture fake footwear.
Police said the counterfeit slippers were valued at ₱513,206, while the molding machine was estimated at ₱4.75 million, bringing the total value of seized items to ₱5,263,206.
The operation stemmed from information provided by a civilian informant and was validated through surveillance and case build-up by CIDG operatives. Complaints from online consumers regarding defective products and inconsistencies with genuine footwear further supported the operation. Body-worn cameras were used to ensure transparency during the search.
Acting PNP Chief PLTGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said operations against counterfeit goods aim to protect consumers from substandard and potentially dangerous products.
“The real victims of these illegal activities are consumers who unknowingly buy fake and unsafe products. This is why the PNP continues its campaign against counterfeiting and market fraud,” Nartatez said.
He added that protecting consumers and legitimate businesses remains a key responsibility of the PNP.
All seized items were documented and turned over to a designated storage facility, while case records are being finalized in coordination with prosecutors.
The PNP reiterated its commitment to sustained enforcement against counterfeit goods and economic crimes under its thrust, ‘Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.’
