AVSEU chair highlights importance of community help in law enforcement

The chairman of the Aviation Security Unit 3-Regional Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development (AVSEU3-RAGPTD) has underscored the importance of the community’s help, which is vital to law enforcement.

AVSEU3-RAGPTD Chairperson IC Calaguas, in the 1st quarter meeting of the group held at Beaute Beanery in this city on March 21, said the littlest assistance from the community will go a long way, especially in terms of peace and order.

Calaguas, in her closing remarks, cited the case of the missing 5-year-old girl, Ally, who was found only 3 days after she was reported missing on March 17.

Ally was found by a couple in Novaliches, Quezon City, upon recognizing her from numerous posts on Facebook. The post about Ally became viral after it was shared by netizens and picked up by media.

“Ganito po ka-importante ang pagtutulungan ng community at ng law enforcement. Kung hindi dahil sa tulong ng komunidad at ng media sa pag-share ng mga detalye sa pagkawala ng bata, hindi sya makikilala ng mag-asawa na nakakita sa kanya,” Calaguas said.

She then reiterated her call to all members to continue their dedication and exert efforts, however small.

“Kahit maliit na contribution, malaking tulong na sa AVSEU at law enforcement,” she said.

Calaguas also mentioned some of the group’s programs for the personal development of the police force, including a Mandarin class at the Angeles University Foundation through the initiative of AVSEU Vice Chairman for External Affairs Lucia Hipolito.

AVSEU member Dr. Rowena Medina, meanwhile, has facilitated the provision of health services for members of law enforcement.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the presentation of a Plaque of Appreciation to media practitioner Eric Jimenez of The Angeles Observer for being the founding chairman of the AVSEU 3 advisory council back in 2015. The plaque was handed over by Calaguas and Col Florencio Soriano.

Retired PBGen. Raul Loy Bargamento was also sworn in as new member.
