Following two recent shooting incidents, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. has ordered an increase in police visibility and the enforcement of 24/7 checkpoints at all entry points across the city. The incidents, which occurred on March 15, 2025, in Barangays Mining and Ninoy Aquino, resulted in both victims being hospitalized.
“We want to ensure the safety of every Angeleño. Through heightened police visibility and continuous checkpoints, we can reduce crime and give our residents a sense of security,” said Mayor Lazatin.

To support these enhanced security measures, the city government has allocated an annual P11 million for the allowances of the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) personnel. Additionally, P500,000 from the remaining funds will be used for fuel expenses to maintain ongoing police patrols.
The Mayor emphasized that the increased police presence would help business owners and residents feel safer while also encouraging them to report crimes such as theft, robbery, and shootings in their communities.
“Together with the ACPO, we will continue to strengthen our law enforcement efforts to ensure the safety and security of all Angeleños,” Mayor Lazatin stated.
He further added, “We will continue to ramp up security in the city to maintain order and peace. I also encourage our residents to cooperate with the police by promptly reporting any suspicious activities or incidents.”
In addition to the increased patrols, Mayor Lazatin recently inaugurated the upgraded Command Center in February 2025, which saw the installation of 210 additional high-tech security cameras in strategic locations. With a total of 375 operational cameras throughout the city, this initiative eliminates blind spots and enhances Angeles City’s commitment to public safety.
