Angeles City boosts food security through Gulayan sa Barangay

The Angeles City Government is intensifying its push for food security and sustainable communities through its flagship Gulayan sa Barangay Program.

On February 26, 2026, the City Agriculture Team, led by City Agriculture Officer Rea Dizon, joined Agriculture Committee Chair Councilor Ron Pineda at the Liga ng mga Barangays to reaffirm their commitment to advancing urban agriculture across the city’s 33 barangays.

Through the program, barangays are being empowered to establish and sustain their own community gardens to ensure food availability, improve household nutrition, and promote environmental stability.

City officials said the initiative aligns with the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028, the Local Government Code of 1991, the DILG Seal of Good Local Governance, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those focused on poverty reduction, zero hunger, sustainable cities, and climate action.

With urban agriculture at the forefront, Angeles City continues to cultivate not only crops but also resilience and self-reliance among its communities.
