The Angeles City Government initiated the expansion of the Angeles City Public Memorial Park and Crematorium with 2,271 niches, which will be inaugurated on September 2, 2024.
Located at Barangay Sapalibutad, the said expansion aims to lessen the outlays of indigent Angeleรฑo families during the death of a loved one.
According to Mayor Carmelo โPogiโ Lazatin, Jr., “This expansion allows us to honor and respect the deceased by providing them with a dignified resting place.”
Philip Samson, Office Head of the Public Cemetery and Crematorium, said, โSa expansion po ng public memorial park na pinagawa ni Mayor Lazatin, mas marami pa pong kababayan natin ang matutulungan pagdating sa aspetong itoโ.
During the stint of Mayor Lazatin, the public memorial park has received major equipment upgrades including the purchase of additional crematorium machines and two units of scissor lifts, which will benefit indigent families in the 33 barangays.
In fact, Samson shared, the Angeles City Public Memorial Park and Crematorium is able to extend their services and other discounts to indigent families with applicable Persons with Disabilities and Senior Citizens.
For additional assistance, the city will also be providing free caskets and discounts in columbarium use for indigent residents.
This is the city governmentโs small act of charity that will somehow alleviate the financial burden should an indigent family member dies.
For the requirements, Samson said, the deceased must be an Angeleรฑo with valid documents, Death Certificate, Barangay Certificate of Indigency, and City Social Welfare and Development Office referral letter in order to avail these services.
โKailangan lang po ng Death Certificate, Barangay Certificate of Indigency, and CSWDO Reference,โ Samson claimed.
To date, 2,223 niches for adults, 60 for children, 566 columbarium niches, and 312 bone niches are available in the cityโs public memorial park.
