The Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO) gathered barangay and school rescue teams for the 2025 Rescue Olympics held on November 27–28 at the City College of Angeles Covered Court. Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II and ACDRRMO OIC Rodolfo T. Simeon led the event, underscoring the city government’s commitment to strengthening community-level disaster preparedness.

Participants competed in practical rescue challenges, including CPR, bandaging, patient lifting and moving, and coordinated emergency response drills. These simulated scenarios aim to equip local responders with the skills needed to act quickly and effectively during real emergencies.

Mayor Lazatin emphasized that keeping Angeleños safe remains a top priority and highlighted the importance of trained responders in all barangays and schools. He noted that the skills developed in the Rescue Olympics can “help save lives” and encouraged teams to continue improving their readiness.
The ACDRRMO said the program aligns with national disaster preparedness initiatives under RA 10121 and supports the city’s goal of building safe, organized, and climate-ready communities. The Rescue Olympics remains one of Angeles City’s key activities in promoting teamwork, capability-building, and practical life-saving skills.
Mayor Lazatin expressed his appreciation to all participating teams, partners, and organizers for their continued support in making Angeles City more resilient and prepared for emergencies.
