Pickleball is hot. Pickleball is in. Pickleball is IT. And IT is now in Angeles City.
Yes, pickleball, the fastest growing racket sport not only in the Philippines but all over the world, has landed in Angeles City. This morning, the Angeles Pickleball Center was officially inaugurated.
The blessing rites were led by Fr. Archie Tapang, and the ceremonial ribbon was cut by Savers Group Holdings Inc. President and Chief Operating Officer Jansen Ivan Uy and Executive Vice President Justine Shaun Uy.
𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹?
According to Wing Pingol, one of the partners behind Angeles Pickleball Center, in one of his recent travels to South Africa, he noticed that pickleball courts were almost in every stop he made. When he got home, he was surprised to find out that his friends, and now business partners, Renato ‘Atoy’ Tayag III and Gilbert Vincent Medina were also into it.
And realizing that there was no pickleball court yet here ‘at home’ in Angeles City, Wing, Atoy and Gilbert with more partners – Justin Reuben De guzman, Antonio ‘Dondi’ Ventura, Nathaniel Andrade and Bazil Arribe conceptualized and paved the way for Angeles Pickleball Center.
Wing added that that timing could not have been more perfect. By chance, after his trip, he got to sit down with Savers Group Chairman Jaime ‘Jack’ Uy who asked what could be done about the former food park area in the Savers Complex. And the rest is history. It is now the Angeles Pickleball Center.
The Angeles Pickleball Center is equipped with five (5) pickleball courts designed by Pro Court.
A neophyte to pickleball? No worries there. There are instructors for beginners, and there are paddles for rent, too. The sports venue, which sits comfortably at the heart of Savers Complex in Balibago, Angeles City, is open from 730am to 9pm daily.
Go ahead. Try your hand at pickleball, the sport that is easy to learn, accessible to players of all ages and skill levels, and offers a fun, social form of exercise.
