The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) have sealed a partnership to transform BCDA properties into premier sports facilities, aiming to strengthen national sports development and boost sports tourism.
BCDA President and CEO Joshua M. Bingcang and PSC Chairman John Patrick “Pato” Gregorio signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on August 13 to modernize the country’s sports infrastructure, starting with priority sites in New Clark City and Baguio City.
Under the deal, a joint task force will identify BCDA properties for development into training and competition venues. The initiative will explore public-private partnerships, innovative construction methods, and professional facility management to ensure sustainable, world-class sports hubs.
“This partnership with the PSC is a force multiplier. Together, we are laying the groundwork for future champions and promoting a healthier, more active Filipino nation,” Bingcang said.
Gregorio, for his part, emphasized the government’s grassroots agenda: “We are building regional training centers across the country to speed up national sports development. These investments combine youth empowerment with economic progress.”
New Clark City, envisioned as the country’s premier sports destination, already houses the Athletics Stadium, Aquatics Center, Athletes’ Village, and the National Academy of Sports.
Witnessing the signing were BCDA Chairperson Atty. Larry B. Paredes and PSC Commissioner Olivia “Bong” Coo.
