BOC–CLARK SEIZES ₱1.07-M MARIJUANA SHIPMENT DECLARED AS “JEANS”

The Bureau of Customs (BOC), through the Port of Clark and the Clark Inter-Agency Task Force Against Illegal Drugs (CRK-IATFAID), has seized 712 grams of high-grade marijuana valued at approximately ₱1.068 million from a shipment falsely declared as “jeans.”

The parcel, which originated from California, USA, arrived in the Philippines in the second week of January 2026 and was bound for Batangas. It was flagged by the X-ray Inspection Project (XIP) after showing suspicious images.

Customs examiners conducted a full physical inspection in the presence of operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and other task force members. The examination uncovered dried leaves and fruiting tops suspected to be marijuana concealed inside the package.

Chemical analysis conducted by the PDEA confirmed the substance as marijuana, classified as a dangerous drug under Republic Act No. 9165.

A Warrant of Seizure and Detention was issued for violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (RA 10863) in relation to the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

Port of Clark District Collector Jairus S. Reyes said the seizure underscores customs’ commitment to securing airport gateways, while Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno reiterated the agency’s continued coordination with law enforcement to prevent illegal drugs from entering the country.
