BOC earns FedEx commendation for faster cargo movement via Clark

FedEx Philippines has formally recognized the Bureau of Customs (BOC) for swift actions that accelerated cargo movement and enabled faster delivery of parcels and everyday goods through Clark International Airport.

In a letter addressed to BOC Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno, FedEx Philippines Managing Director Maribeth Espinosa expressed appreciation for the Bureau’s approval of additional chartered cargo flights and the granting of an exception to the Permit to Transfer. The move allowed imported containers to be moved directly to FedEx’s bonded warehouse for immediate sorting, significantly cutting processing time while ensuring full compliance with customs regulations.

With the streamlined arrangement, FedEx is now able to operate up to seven chartered flights weekly on top of its regular flight from China. The first charter flight, completed on January 13, helped avert potential delivery backlogs, particularly for early-morning parcel arrivals at Clark.

FedEx likewise acknowledged the strong coordination of Port of Clark District Collector Jarius Reyes and his team, along with Deputy Commissioner Atty. Agaton Teodoro Uvero of the Assessment and Operations Coordinating Group, citing their hands-on support as vital to the swift approval process.

Commissioner Nepomuceno said faster cargo processing translates to quicker delivery of online purchases, business shipments, and essential goods for Filipinos, underscoring the Bureau’s dual mandate of border protection and efficient trade facilitation.

The BOC viewed the recognition as affirmation of its continuing reforms to streamline air cargo and bonded warehouse procedures and improve ease of doing business. The agency reiterated its commitment to working closely with the private sector in building a faster, more reliable, and compliant logistics system aligned with the national government’s economic agenda.
