The Philippine Army (PA) has delisted Cavite 4th District Representative Francisco “Kiko” Barzaga from the military’s Reserve Force following a review that found his actions “equivalent to grave offenses.”
PA spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala said Barzaga’s removal took effect on September 21, after a “thorough review of the circumstances” in accordance with GHQ AFP SOP No. 7 and other applicable Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) regulations.
The delisting stemmed from Barzaga’s social media posts on September 21 urging members of the military and reservists to join the anti-corruption rallies held that day. The posts also reportedly showed him in military uniform, which Dema-ala said “insinuated sedition” and violated military rules.
“With his removal, Barzaga is no longer authorized to wear the military uniform under any circumstance and is barred from future commissioning into the AFP regular or reserve force,” Dema-ala said.
He clarified that the decision “does not reflect on Barzaga’s personal character or public service record,” but stressed that the Army remains committed to upholding discipline and professionalism.
“While we regret the necessity of this action, the PA does not condone violations of military regulations regardless of status or position,” Dema-ala said.
Before his removal, Barzaga held the rank of Private in the Philippine Army Reserve Force.
