In preparation for the upcoming national and local elections, the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) has rolled out simultaneous checkpoint operations across Central Luzon to ensure heightened security.
Under the leadership of newly designated PRO3 Regional Director, PBGen Jean S. Fajardo, a total of 314 checkpoints were established throughout the region. On the morning of January 12, 2025, 2,438 police personnel were deployed to enforce the nationwide gun ban imposed by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).

As a result of these coordinated efforts, 25 individuals were apprehended for carrying firearms. The arrests were distributed across the region, with 6 arrests in Bataan, 2 in Bulacan, 8 in Nueva Ecija, 6 in Pampanga, and 3 in Zambales.
PBGen Fajardo stressed the importance of public cooperation with law enforcement during the checkpoint operations, assuring the public that police officers would strictly adhere to established protocols and respect citizens’ rights. Motorists were reminded to slow down, dim their headlights, turn on their cabin lights, and promptly respond when approached by officers at checkpoints.
“I have also reminded our personnel to remain courteous to motorists and to follow the guidelines outlined in our Revised Police Operational Procedures,” PBGen Fajardo said.
The gun ban, which runs from January 12 to June 11, 2025, prohibits the carrying and transportation of firearms, deadly weapons, and explosives. Violators face penalties ranging from one to twelve years of imprisonment.
PRO3 remains committed to ensuring peaceful and orderly elections through the strict enforcement of the law and proactive security measures.
