Pampanga 1st District Representative Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. expressed strong condemnation over the killing of Maria Teresa “Tess” Mamac following the recovery of a body believed to be hers during an excavation inside the Mamac family compound in Angeles City.

In an official statement, Lazatin extended his condolences to the bereaved family, describing Mamac as a pillar of support for Barangay Balibago during her time as the spouse of its long-serving barangay captain. He strongly denounced the killing, calling it a heinous crime that has no place in a moral and civilized society.

Lazatin announced a ₱200,000 reward, to be taken from his personal funds, for anyone who can provide information that will lead to the identification and arrest of the person responsible for the crime. He expressed hope that the perpetrator would be brought to justice at the soonest possible time.

Police earlier confirmed that the remains believed to be Mamac were discovered buried about six feet deep near a house inside the family compound following new investigative leads. Investigators continue to work on determining the circumstances surrounding the killing and locating a person of interest linked to the case.
