CRIME RATE IN CENTRAL LUZON DROPS BY 1,689 INCIDENTS IN 2024

Central Luzon recorded a 4.31% decrease in crime rate for the year 2024 compared to 2023, according to data from the Philippine National Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3).

PRO3 Director PBGEN Redrico Maranan reported that a total of 37,514 crime incidents occurred from January 1 to December 31, 2024—1,689 fewer incidents than the 39,203 recorded in 2023.

The Peace and Order Index, which includes cases of theft, physical injury, robbery, rape, murder, car theft, and homicide, saw a decline of 122 incidents or 3.37%, dropping from 3,616 in 2023 to 3,494 in 2024.

Similarly, the Peace and Order Non-Index Crimes, covering violations of special laws such as RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA 9262 (Violence Against Women and Their Children Act), also decreased by 204 incidents or 1.58%, from 12,931 in 2023 to 12,727 in 2024.

In addition, the Public Safety Index, which tracks traffic-related cases, fell by 1,363 incidents or 6.02%, from 22,656 in 2023 to 21,293 in 2024.

“These figures reflect not only our collective efforts but also the unity and discipline of our police force and the community,” PBGEN Maranan stated. He credited the region’s crime reduction to the implementation of the Peace and Order Operational Framework, which combines Enhanced Police Presence (EPP), Quick Response Time (QRT), and Counter Action Against Drug Groups, Criminal Gangs, and Private Armed Groups (CADCP), collectively aimed at creating a ‘Safe Region 3 (SR3).’

PBGEN Maranan also called for continued public support for PRO3’s programs and campaigns. “This success is something we cannot achieve alone. Public cooperation—reporting suspicious activities, participating in community-based crime prevention programs, and maintaining discipline—is essential to sustaining peace and order in our region. Together, let us make Central Luzon a safe and peaceful home for all,” he added.
