Candating families receive ₱620K aid after flood control project collapse

A flood-control project in Candating, Arayat, collapsed for the third time, causing landslides despite a total investment of ₱394.8 million since 2018. The incident damaged the homes of 23 families, prompting the Pampanga Provincial Government and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to provide immediate relocation and financial assistance.

The provincial government gave ₱20,000 each to eight families whose houses were totally damaged, while seven families with partially damaged homes and eight families at risk of collapse received ₱10,000 each. The DPWH provided matching amounts, bringing the total financial assistance to ₱620,000.

The affected area in Candating has been declared a danger zone, and residents are prohibited from staying there during the rainy season. Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda emphasized that the safety of the community remains the top priority.
