The organizers of the MPTC Tour of Luzon 2026 have renewed their partnership with Cardinal Santos Medical Center as the official medical partner for this year’s edition of the country’s premier cycling event.
The partnership was reaffirmed during a Memorandum of Agreement signing ceremony held at the hospital’s event hall, ensuring comprehensive medical support for cyclists participating in the multi-stage race scheduled from April 29 to May 13, 2026.
Now in its second year, the collaboration highlights the shared commitment of the organizers and the medical institution to athlete safety, medical preparedness, and the continued development of competitive cycling in the Philippines.
Under the agreement, Cardinal Santos Medical Center will deploy extensive medical assistance along the race route, including two fully equipped ambulances for rapid response, two Emergency Medical Services (EMS) teams assigned per ambulance, and a dedicated trauma doctor to oversee critical care needs and provide immediate medical intervention when necessary.
In his opening remarks, Cardinal Santos Vice President and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Antonio S. Say emphasized the importance of medical readiness in high-level sporting events.
“Cycling at this level tests the limits of the human body. From fatigue and dehydration to the risks that come with high-speed competition, medical preparedness becomes a crucial part of the race,” Say said. “That is why Cardinal Santos Medical Center, together with our partner hospitals across Luzon, will have medical teams ready along the route—prepared to respond quickly and professionally whenever the need arises.”
MPTC Tour of Luzon CEO and Chief Organizer Arrey A. Perez expressed appreciation for the hospital’s continued support, noting that the partnership helps elevate the standard of the competition.
“This partnership goes beyond the race track—it’s about showcasing the Philippines’ ability to host a premier sports event with care and excellence,” Perez said.
Meanwhile, Cardinal Santos Medical Center President and CEO Raul C. Pagdanganan highlighted the hospital’s role in safeguarding athletes throughout the competition.
“Through our partnership with the MPTC Tour of Luzon, we are proud to contribute our expertise in emergency and trauma care to safeguard the athletes who inspire communities across the country,” Pagdanganan said.
The MPTC Tour of Luzon 2026 is expected to gather elite cyclists, teams, and cycling enthusiasts from across the Philippines and abroad, further strengthening the country’s growing cycling culture while ensuring the health and safety of all participants.
