Cebu Pacific achieves Record ESG score

Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB), the Philippines’ leading airline, has achieved its highest-ever Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance, earning a notable score of 46 in the 2024 S&P Global ESG Score. This significant accomplishment positions Cebu Pacific among the world’s most sustainable carriers, underscoring its growing commitment to sustainable aviation.

The S&P Global ESG Score evaluates how companies address ESG risks, seize opportunities, and assess their overall impact. Cebu Pacific’s latest score reflects remarkable advancements in key sustainability areas.

The airline achieved a noteworthy 17-point increase in its environmental score, soaring from 26 to 43 points. This improvement is attributed to its strengthened environmental policies, ambitious climate strategy, and ongoing decarbonization efforts. Cebu Pacific also continues to focus on managing risks related to water and energy use, waste disposal, and pollution control.

Cebu Pacific also leads in social performance, scoring 51 pointsβ€”well above the airline industry average of 44. This achievement highlights the airline’s dedication to fair labor practices, strict adherence to transportation safety standards, strong passenger data protection measures, and effective workforce management.

Furthermore, the airline saw an improvement in its governance score, rising by two points to 43. This increase is attributed to enhanced risk and crisis management, as well as consistent performance in areas such as cybersecurity, information security, ethical practices, and transparency reporting.

Cebu Pacific’s record ESG performance emphasizes its commitment to offering a superior flying experience while minimizing environmental impact. The airline continues to refine its policies and practices to align with global sustainability standards and to contribute positively to the future of aviation.
