Pampanga First District Representative Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. visited Mabalacat City on July 10–11, 2025, to personally distribute school supplies and nutritional treats to 2,745 daycare students as part of his continuing education and wellness initiatives.
Each student received crayons, notebooks, pencil, eraser, sharpener, and a writing pad—all personally funded by Lazatin. In addition, parents were given five kilos of rice.
Students also got to enjoy a serving of the first-ever Malunggay Ice Cream, a nutrition campaign launched by Lazatin on July 1 to promote healthier food choices for young children in the First District. The ice cream is likewise personally funded by the Congressman.
This latest outreach follows Lazatin’s earlier distribution of supplies to 1,665 daycare students in Magalang during the first week of July.
Lazatin also actively took part in Brigada Eskwela 2025, personally donating 580 sacks of cement, 116 liters of paint, and 232 paintbrushes each to 58 public schools in Mabalacat City and another 58 in Magalang.
A long-time advocate of education, Lazatin has championed various school improvement projects since his time as Angeles City Mayor. These include:
- ₱5 million in repairs for daycare centers
- ₱259 million in infrastructure development at the City College of Angeles (CCA)
- A ₱50 million annex building at CCA funded by PAGCOR
- Distribution of 58,000 tablets to public school students and 3,200 each to teachers and CCA students during the pandemic
As First District Representative, Lazatin is committed to expanding access to quality education. His legislative priorities include increasing classroom construction budgets, proposing a ₱20,000 across-the-board salary increase for public school teachers, and establishing comprehensive training programs for educators.
