At the ISOG Cybersecurity Excellence Awards held at The Peninsula Manila, Atty. Esteban-Tuason emphasized the importance of data privacy in Converge’s operations:

“As the Data Protection Officer of Converge, with a degree in cybersecurity, I regard data privacy as a human right and a fundamental part of our sustainability agenda. We made sure to enshrine this principle in the practice and policies of Converge, and I am honored this is being recognized and validated by the country’s professional group of information security officers.”

The ISOG I AM SECURE Cybersecurity Excellence Awards, now in its second year, celebrates Filipino leaders who have made significant contributions to the country’s cybersecurity landscape. Atty. Esteban-Tuason was one of only 17 honorees this year.

Under Atty. Esteban-Tuason’s leadership, Converge has elevated its data privacy framework by implementing proactive strategies, including privacy risk assessments and embedding privacy into IT systems and business practices. These initiatives have shifted the organization’s approach from reactive to proactive, minimizing potential vulnerabilities and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

In 2023, the Data Privacy Team conducted its first Privacy Breach Drill, underscoring Converge’s commitment to strengthening incident response plans. The Corporate Governance and Data Privacy Team also expanded, recruiting additional Compliance Officers for Privacy and launching a Data Privacy Awareness Campaign across the organization and with third-party partners.

The ISOG Cybersecurity Excellence Awards were judged by a panel of experts from institutions such as the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Bankers’ Association of the Philippines, Department of Information and Communications Technology, National Privacy Commission, and other industry leaders.

The award highlights the critical roles of executives like Chief Information Security Officers, Chief Risk Officers, and Data Privacy Officers in safeguarding organizational information and ensuring sustainability.

Through her leadership, Atty. Esteban-Tuason continues to drive Converge’s commitment to data privacy, further solidifying its position as a leader in the broadband and technology sector.
