Converge highlights Fiber Network innovations at Fiber Network Council APAC 2024

The Fiber Network Council APAC (FNC APAC) brought together leaders from broadband and telecommunications industries at its flagship FiberConnect APAC Conference 2024 in Manila on November 5, with Converge ICT Solutions Inc., a leading Philippine fiber broadband provider, as a key partner. The conference focused on fiber’s role in advancing emerging technologies and enhancing connectivity across Asia Pacific.

Dennis Anthony Uy, CEO of Converge ICT and a founding FNC APAC member, welcomed attendees, emphasizing the Philippines’ growth in fiber technology. “Hosting the region’s fiber specialists allows us to showcase the rapid advancements in our local fiber industry, especially with the rise of AI and cloud computing,” Uy remarked.

The event’s conference chair, Dr. Fouad ‘Frank’ Jaffer, noted Converge ICT’s role as the first Philippine broadband member of FNC APAC, highlighting how fiber networks overcome the Philippines’ geographical challenges. “We’re proud to spotlight the Philippines’ technical expertise in industries like call centers and design engineering, proving that fiber networks are sustainable and transformative,” Jaffer said.

DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy spoke about the government’s initiatives to expand fiber broadband. “Through the National Fiber Backbone Project, we’re establishing high-speed connections across 14 provinces and beyond, empowering the public sector and connecting Filipinos nationwide,” Uy stated. He also pointed to the success of the government’s Free Wifi program, now benefiting 10 million users, with Converge’s own Free Wifi counterpart installed in Philippine airports.

Converge’s Chief Network Transformation Officer, Paulo Martin ‘Santi’ Santos, shared insights on Converge’s network innovations, emphasizing the integration of AI and automation. “Converge’s edge lies in its comprehensive digital strategy, which includes a national digital highway and international network, supported by our cloud and multi-edge data centers,” said Santos.

The conference also featured industry experts from companies like Nokia Bell Labs, YOFC, and NICT Japan, along with exhibitors showcasing the latest fiber products and innovations. The event highlighted Converge ICT’s commitment to pioneering technology and promoting fiber-driven connectivity in the Philippines and the region.
