DA launches Digital Registry System for P20 rice program

The Department of Agriculture (DA) has launched a modernized online registry system for the P20 rice program under the “Benteng Bigas Meron Na (BBM Na)” initiative. The program supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure accessible and affordable food nationwide by offering aging but good-quality NFA rice at P20 per kilo.

DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said the new digital platform will strengthen the system by creating a master list of beneficiaries, improving transparency and efficiency. The registry—successfully tested in October—will be rolled out nationwide as part of National Rice Awareness Month.

A massive registration drive will cover delivery riders, transport workers, security personnel, senior citizens, PWDs, solo parents, 4Ps beneficiaries, indigenous peoples, low-income earners, farmers, fisherfolk, and DSWD Walang Gutom beneficiaries. Eligible individuals may register until the end of February at designated P20 outlets and NFA warehouses, after which they will receive a QR code for purchase validation and monthly limits.

The system is expected to support the expansion of the BBM Na program to about 15 million households, enhancing the distribution of affordable rice across the country.
